What Is the Intro to BJJ Class?

The Intro to BJJ Class is a 30-minute semi private session designed to give first timers a simple introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

This class provides a comfortable learning environment where you can familiarise yourself with the Jiujitsu basics before joining a regular group class. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions, learn key concepts and understand how classes work.

Our goal is simple: help you feel confident and prepared for your first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class.

What Will You Learn?

During your Intro to BJJ Class, you will learn:

Basic Jiu Jitsu Warm Ups

Learn the fundamental movements used in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes. These drills help improve coordination, body awareness and mobility while preparing you for future training.

Key Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Concepts

Understand the basic principles that make Brazilian Jiu Jitsu effective, including leverage, control and positioning.

Fundamental Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Positions

Learn the major positions you will encounter during training and understand their purpose within the art.

What to Expect at Your First Group Class

We'll walk you through how a typical class runs so you know exactly what to expect when you attend your first session.

Gym Etiquette

Learn the simple etiquette and academy standards that help create a safe and welcoming training environment for everyone.

What Happens on the Day?

To help your session run smoothly, please:

  • Sign your waiver before your session

  • Arrive 15 minutes early

  • Check in upon arrival

  • Have fun and enjoy the experience

Our coaches will guide you through everything you need to know.

What Should I Bring?

For your Intro to BJJ Class, we recommend bringing:

  • Comfortable sportswear

  • Water bottle

  • Towel

  • Change of clothes

Please Avoid:

  • Loose clothing

  • Clothes with zippers

  • Clothes with pockets

  • Wearing jewellery

These items can create safety issues during training and may damage the mats or equipment.
